City of Kannapolis issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.
Please stay home. The condition of our streets is worsening and we are seeing motorists become stranded.
For example, sections of Rogers Lake Road and Little Texas Road are closed for now as the streets are slick and people cannot get up the hills on these streets.
Due to the worsening street conditions - Friday's garbage route, which was supposed to be collected tomorrow, will not be collected until Monday. We thank you for your understanding as we work to keep everyone safe.
Our crews are working diligently to put down slag but with the low temperatures we expect streets to be treacherous overnight and in the morning.
