Rowan County's EDC launched a free digital platform called Rowan County ZoomBusiness from GIS Planning that allows local companies to talk with customers in real-time.
The goal is to help customers find businesses such as restaurants, stores or other services, that are open during the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization said on April 28. Businesses can list information, such as hours of operation.
"During this crisis, local businesses need every advantage we can give them, and this is another tool in helping them to mitigate the negative impact of COVID-19," Rowan EDC president Rod Crider said in the release.
Similar sites have been launched in more than 30 communities in North America, the organization said. Rowan County is the second community in North Carolina to do so.
"With ZoomBusiness, we want to help make sure the local restaurants, retailers and service providers that define local communities are still there to serve area residents when this pandemic is over," GIS Planning marketing vice president Alissa Sklar said in the release.
