Tropical Storm Warning In Effect for Cabarrus and Rowan Counties

We are now under a Tropical Storm Warning.

This means that tropical storm winds are expected within the next 36 hours in our area. Winds are expected to be 20-30 mph with gusts of 60 mph. We are also expecting 3-6 inches of rainfall. Tropical winds and rainfall can cause trees to fall, flash flooding and power outages.

What do you need to do?

  • You should secure anything at your home that could potentially blow away or be damaged by winds and significant rainfall.
  • Prepare for power outages. Charge phones, devices, weather radios and anything else you may need to use if you lose power.
  • Make sure your emergency preparedness kit is stocked. Visit ReadyNC.gov for info on how to build an emergency kit.
  • Pay attention to weather forecasts and alerts as conditions may change quickly based on the track of the storm over the next 36 hours.
