Spring has sprung and Salisbury Fire Department has safety tips to keep you and your family safe:
- PREVENT ELECTRICAL FIRES
Never overload circuits or extension cords. Plug cords directly into a wall socket instead of extension cords. Do not place cords under rugs or in high traffic areas.
- USE THE GRILL WISELY
When using appliances, follow the manufacturer’s safety precautions. Make sure the grill is set up in an open, outdoor area with nothing flammable nearby.
- CLOSE BEFORE YOU DOZE
Close doors at night. Research has proven that a closed bedroom door can help save your life by slowing the spread of flames and prevent heat and smoke from filling your room.
- PLAN YOUR ESCAPE
Develop and practice a home fire escape plan to ensure everyone knows what to do if the smoke alarm sounds.
