Rowan-Cabarrus Community College issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.
Sabre Foster Furr had a successful career in the corporate world before deciding to pursue her lifelong dream of working in the medical field. Now enrolled in the Rowan-Cabarrus Associate Degree Nursing program, her goal is to become a travel nurse.
“I’m a non-traditional student, which is a nice way of saying I am older than most of the other students. This is my second degree, and my perspective and how I learn now is very different. I am a better student for it. It is amazing what life can teach you along the way.
“Since I was 12 or 13 years old and was a candy striper at the local hospital, I have always wanted to go into medicine in some form. Now, I am going for it, and I am determined to do this. I am very appreciative of all of the support I have received, and I know that I will give Rowan-Cabarrus all the credit it is due when I am able to put RN after my name.”
