Rowan-Salisbury School System issued the following announcement on Oct. 8.
Rowan-Salisbury Schools’ (RSS) Career and Technical Education (CTE) department celebrated National Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 1, kicking off a month-long observance.
Typically, the RSS-CTE department partners with the Rowan Economic Development Commission (EDC) to engage students with the world of manufacturing through field trips and tours of the facilities and a face-to-face question and answer session with industry professionals. Due to the pandemic, RSS-CTE pivoted to still provide students and our manufacturing business community invaluable opportunities to connect.
This year, RSS-CTE students participated in work-based learning experiences and manufacturing industry tours following safety protocols the week of October 4 and participated in a virtual platform for a similar real-world opportunity, including a virtual live panel held on Wednesday, October 6.
National Manufacturing Day is observed annually on the first Friday in October, with industry-related events that continue throughout the month. “MFG Day—Manufacturing Day—helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers, and community leaders. As manufacturers seek to fill 4.6 million high-skill, high-tech and high-paying jobs over the next decade, MFG Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.”
