When it comes to healthiest employers, Rowan County ranks No. 1 in the Greater Charlotte area, a report from the Charlotte Business Journal said.
It is the second year in a row that Rowan County took the top spot for the region, the county posted in a July release, citing the Charlotte Business Journal's report.
"The Board of Commissioners have supported the wellness program year after year, and we are honored to be ranked No. 1," County Manager Aaron Church said in the press release. "Without the continued hard work and dedication of Aldrea Speight and Debbie Holshouser under the leadership of Human Resources Director Kelly Natoli, this would not be possible."
This award comes after the county has been working toward implementing employee wellness initiatives over several years. These initiatives include giving Fitbits to county employees, Biometric Screenings, Employee Assistance Programs and several other wellness resources and challenges, the release said. The county is striving to keep health insurance for employees manageable as well.
"Hard work and good leadership pays off. We have some of the brightest human resource professionals in the country right here in Rowan County," Commissioner Chairman Greg Edds said in the press release. "It's just another reason why we're experiencing strong growth and new opportunities. We're proud to say that Rowan County is open for Business."
