ROWAN COUNTY: Rowan County Animal Shelter to reduce animal intake, Agriculture Center cancels events

Animalshelter

Rowan County issued the following announcement on Mar. 17.

Rowan County Animal Shelter to reduce animal intake, Agriculture Center cancels events

Rowan County Animal Shelter to reduce animal intake

Due to an increase in animal intake and the inability to get animals adopted as quickly as needed, Rowan County Animal Shelter will be taking measures to help reduce non-essential animal intake at this time. All surrender of owned animals will be facilitated through an appointment process based on the Shelter’s availability of space. To make an appointment please call 704-216-7768.

The Rowan County Animal Shelter will also allow dogs currently housed in the Shelter to be moved into foster homes within Rowan County. Any individual interested in fostering a dog on a temporary basis will need to contact the Shelter for more information.

We also urge citizens who have found stray cats to understand that roaming cats are 10 times more likely to return home on their own and to refrain from bringing in stray cats at this time.

Rowan County Agriculture Center cancels events

The Rowan County Agriculture Center has announced that all meetings, events, classes and workshops scheduled at the Agriculture Center have been canceled through April 14th 2020.

All pesticide safety training will be rescheduled after May 11th, 2020. The NCDA Pesticide Section agreed that anyone that uses a respirator and is unable to be fit tested this year because of the coronavirus, but was fit tested last year is ok to use a respirator. Those who were not fit tested in 2019 may not use a respirator until getting fit tested. Please contact the Ag Center at 704-216-8970 if you still need to have your respirator fit tested.
