After 46-year-old Brian Pentsa woke up with shortness of breath, the situation quickly spiraled into a life-threatening emergency. He knew he had atrial fibrillation (AFib), but it hadn’t previously materialized into anything that needed urgent treatment. Now, Brian’s AFib had led to cardiogenic shock and heart failure. He shares what happened next and the extraordinary care he received during a week-long stay in the cardiac intensive care unit at UH Cleveland Medical Center.
