In essence, the bill, known as the Motorcycle Road Guard Safety Act, allows authorized individuals to direct traffic while escorting motorcycle groups. To qualify, a person must hold a motorcycle road guard certificate, which requires being at least 18 years old, possessing a valid driver’s license, and completing a certification course developed by the Division of Motor Vehicles. Additionally, road guards must adhere to established safety and equipment standards. They are required to notify and obtain prior consent from the chief of police of each city encountered. The Division of Motor Vehicles is tasked with adopting rules to enforce the act, which becomes effective Dec. 1, 2025.
