Moms for Liberty has endorsed McKenzie L. Kelly in her race for a seat on the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education. Early voting will take place from October 17 to November 2 for the November 5 general election.

On her campaign’s Facebook page, Kelly said “I believe in the importance of our schools getting back to the basics, focusing on fundamental education to ensure our children are well-prepared for the future. I am committed to learning the job, growing in my role, and helping parents become more informed and involved in our Children’s education.”

In a September 10 post on her campaign’s Facebook page, Kelly drew attention to a recent Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education meeting that had been rescheduled without public notice and not livestreamed. This particular meeting was focused on the previous year’s school performance grades.

Kelly expressed frustration that the public had effectively been shut out of such an important discussion, and she affirmed that she is “committed to ensuring that such critical discussions are conducted openly and with full public involvement.”

Kelly has shared publicly about her Christian faith. She and her husband have five children.

According to the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education manual, the board comprises seven members. Terms are four years and staggered so that three or four members are elected every two years. Members are elected on a nonpartisan basis.

Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, “Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.”
